Spoiler - My In Laws Are Obsessed with me (2025)

I was just about to write a whole essay about how good the manhwa adaption is when I found the namuwiki link for the manhwa. Kudos to whoever updates the site, because it details all differences between the novel and the manhwa up until chapter 81. I will put the link in spoiler cause I don't know if I'm allowed to post link here or not. It's in korean but you can use gg translate, it is quite readableSpoiler - My In Laws Are Obsessed with me (1)
But I also want to quote some of other users' post about the adaption's changes, so...Spoiler - My In Laws Are Obsessed with me (2)

Personally, I think the manhwa makes the story so much more realistic, for example:

- Sasha in manhwa has serious doubts about whether or not she truly travelled back to the past, which leads to her questioning herself for a veryyyy long time. This is a very special point, as in many other novels and manhwas, the characters after returning to the past or reincarnating in another world accept their reality in like 5s and immediately plot revenge or something (I have always find this unreal). It also makes perfect sense that Sasha has doubts as her family treated her really well in the past.

- Sasha is not buffed or OP. She failed her first business due to a lack of experience (which is completely normal). It is also indicated that she has been weaken every time she consumes the cursed blood, the time she needs to wake up after dying is longer.

- Celphius is also made more realistic in the manhwa. In the novel after accidentally killing Sasha with his blood for the first time, he brought a shovel to her bed to bury her. I mean, a child like Celphi wouldn't do that at all, it doesn't suit his character.

- The family members open up to Pereshati not as fast as in the novel. I remembered someone said that they loved her pretty quick in the novel, while in the manhwa it took her 72 chapters. They are reasonably suspicious and guarded of her though, so it is understandable.

- Therdeo, omg I love his character in the manhwa sooo much. Yes he is kinda a jerk in the beginning, but the character development the artist gave him is just amazing. The fact that he might have a hobby of interior designing or architecture is chef kiss, tbh. Someone commented that it might be his secret hobby ever since he was young as he wasn't chosen to be the heir to begin with.

- The relationship between two main leads is healthy (?), except for the fact that he purposely fed her his blood. It is slow burn, I know, but isn't it understandable as they are both traumatized? Pereshati is betrayed by her family and lover, while Therdeo has war PTSD and experienced sexual assault and all kinds of pressure from the royals... In the epilouge of ss1 manhwa, the artist noted that Therdeo only opened up to Pereshati at chapter 68 (?) when he (secretly) smiled at her when she said her trip was fun. They also use the same approach to each other problems, such as Sasha using the law to punish nobles and kids that bullied Celphi/Therdeo tried to murder the guy and Therdeo using his sources to find the evidence for Sasha's trial against her stepmother/Sasha's near-attempt to throw the Lapileon under the bus for indirectly causing her father's death. Therdeo is also very considerate of her, like asking her to go on a trip, giving her space, or saying that she could leave if she want to and he would take care of the contract.

- They do argue, yes, as in chapter 82 (?) when Therdeo yelled at her, asking why she wasn't relying on him and proceeds to avoid her. Fortunnately, they made up a few chapters later. Therdeo also make sure to reassure her that it is okay for her to rely on him as he also relies on her. I really like his saying "What I can't do, you can. What you can't do, I can. By working together, we might find a better direction."

- Also, the artist done an impressive job with the art itself. This story is full of trauma and drama, so they make a good use of silent panels (show, don't tell) and create a quite gloomy and dark feeling in the manhwa. (I'm so sorry seungu-nim for doubting the manhwa based on the art when I first saw it - you're perfect for this)

About you saying that the story is depressing, I mean, it is kinda supposed to be with this set of character and drama though. To be honest, after reading the manhwa I prefer this style much more than the bling bling shalala of the novel's illustration (I'm not saying it's bad though, it's cute)
I am sincerely very really sorry for the wall of text, but I just love the manhwa so muchSpoiler - My In Laws Are Obsessed with me (3)
